A Moment That Felt Like a Book Page
There are these rare moments where everything slows down and you catch yourself thinking, Is this real life? For me, one of those was during Dan and Abby’s engagement session on top of the world in Laguna Beach.
The sunlight poured over the cliffs, wrapping around the two of them like a quiet blessing. Behind them were layers of golden mountains, glimmering ocean in the distance, and that kind of wind that makes you pause just to feel it on your face. It was absolutely breathtaking and yet, so joyfully human too.

At one point, I positioned them directly in front of the sun, and in the photo, they nearly disappeared into the light. We all laughed as I turned the camera around to show them what happened. It was one of those sweet, unplanned moments you only get when you let love lead the way.
That’s the kind of magic I live for.
The Beauty of Letting Go
If you’ve ever felt pressure to “perform” in front of the camera, I get it.
Being photographed is vulnerable. You’re not just trying to make your body look “right,” but you’re hoping to feel something honest in your photos too. And when it’s a milestone as meaningful as an engagement, that hope becomes even more tender.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to have any modeling experience to create beautiful, emotional images. What you really need is connection. Trust. A little sunlight. And a photographer who sees what matters most – your love story as it unfolds right now.
That’s what I saw in Dan and Abby. From strolling dirt trails to sitting close on coastal rocks, they simply showed up for each other. Not posing, not forcing anything, just living that quiet, joyful love. And it was everything.
So if you’re wondering what makes a session feel unforgettable, here’s what I’ve learned works best.
How to Make Your Engagement Session Truly Memorable
1. Prioritize Connection Over Perfection

- It’s okay if the wind blows your hair a little or you laugh too hard mid-kiss.
- The photos that tug at your heart later are rarely posed. They’re the ones where you’re caught up in each other.
- I guide every couple gently into moments that feel natural, honest, and real – because that’s where the beauty lives.

2. Choose a Location That Moves You
- Laguna Beach, with its golden cliffs and sweeping views, is one of my favorite places for a reason.
- Whether it’s rolling hills, ocean breezes, or a quiet forest path, pick a place that reflects your story and brings you peace.
- You’re not just taking photos — you’re making memories, and location matters in how you feel during them.

3. Give Yourself Permission to Be All In
- Let yourself be playful, serious, silly, or quiet.
- If you feel nervous, I’ll walk you through it with warmth and ease. That’s part of what I love most about my sessions – being a calm, encouraging presence.
- When you give yourself the space to be fully present, the photos will feel like you – not a performance.

What Really Stays With You
Dan and Abby’s session wasn’t just a walk at sunset. It felt like stepping into a sweet, early chapter of something lifelong. That’s what engagement photos can feel like when they’re centered around love, not just images.

These aren’t just updates to your social feed. They’re part of your legacy. Photos that one day, years from now, might be pulled from a drawer or flipped through with grandkids, bringing back the early sparks of your story.
That’s what I want for you.
Photos where we slow down, lean into what matters, and capture a little of the wonder you’re walking through together.
